Margaret Swires

 

Margaret Swires is our BMS (Baptist Missionary Society) link Missionary in Peru Hunslet supports Margaret prayerfully and financially.  

Margaret is working with the Peruvian Baptist Convention in the area of holistic ministry, initially in the capital city Lima. She relocated to Peru in November 2005 following 20 years with BMS in Brazil.

"We are seeking out what other organisations are doing in this area in order to see how we can work in our churches, alerting to the problems, prevention and help. As ever the key is how to present the programmes. I have been to many very proficient conferences and training sessions on an incredibly wide variety of subjects, but am concerned at the amazingly low level of actual action after words. The Lord has promised that the dry times are nearly over and the blessings are coming, so keep praying with me."

Rev George M Wieland 

 

George is a former member and the eldest son of former Hunslet Pastor Rev Joseph M Wieland (1969-1990)and is now Lecturer at Carey Baptist College, Auckland, New Zealand

George teaches New Testament at Carey and in the Tyndale-Carey Graduate School.  Following pastoral ministry in the UK and cross cultural mission in Brazil he is deeply interested in applying the NT to contemporary Christian life and mission.  His book, The Significance of Salvation: A Study of Salvation Language in the Letters to Timothy and Titus has just been published by Paternoster.  He is married to Jo, who is pastor of Mangere Baptist Church, and their children are Lindsey (married to Rich) and Jonathan and Joanne. George is also the author of our own publication " The Baptists in Hunslet in the late nineteenth century" priced £3.50
